He founded both Uni-Mail and MGT Associates, list brokerage and management companies which generated annual sales in excess of 50 million dollars.

For the past 25 years, Mr. Avrick has also been the direct marketing consultant for Craftmatic Adjustable Beds, during which time he has generated in excess of 23,000,000 sales leads via direct response, and the company has grown to over 100 million dollars in annual sales. He has also generated millions of leads for companies including Contour Chair Lounge, Inc., Life Alert, Mutual of Omaha, Encyclopedia Britannica, and York Security Shutters.

Jean Lizbeth Avrick

Jean Lizbeth Avrick has more than 15 years in the field of direct response. After completing her Master's degree in Economics at the University of California, she provided financial analysis and marketing assistance to a variety of companies, including oil, real estate development, mergers and acquisitions, and investment management. In 1994, she went to work for Mr. Avrick, concentrating on an active seminar business, and coordinating the direct mail program. From there, she became involved in mailing list selection for a variety of direct mail projects, and as Executive Vice President of Avrick Direct, Inc. concentrates mostly on management and administration.

Doreen Placencia

Doreen Placencia is the Chief Operations Officer for Avrick Direct, Inc. In this capacity Doreen is responsible for the operations of Avrick Direct. Doreen focuses on coordination of sales efforts and marketing strategies. Doreen is highly involved in meetings with our Management companies and various brokers that handle the brokerage for our large mailers.

Doreen's main focus for Avrick Direct is List Hygiene, and with her high standards of quality that she demands our continuations continue to grow.

Doreen has been with Avrick Direct since 1997, and will continue to grow strong with Avrick Direct, Inc.

Laurence Shoobs
Sales Manager

Laurence, or Larry, as we call him, is our newest addition to Avrick Direct, joining our company in March 2007, after nearly 14 years at Fasano and Associates, where he was a Vice President. His background includes brokerage and management at Names in the News/California, and U.C. Berkeley Extension, where he was the Direct Marketing Manager. He has worked with fundraising, cultural, consumer, internet, technical and business-to-business clients.

This variety of experience - publishing, business, consumer, and fundraising -  enhances and enriches his ability to work with the brokerage community providing expert advice on the Avrick Direct Family of  Lists and Marketing Solutions.  Laurence has extensive knowledge of emerging markets, particularly the U.S. Hispanic market.

Laurence is actively involved in the direct marketing industry. He has contributed articles to DM News, has lectured at UCLA Extension, and served as a panelist at CircDay LA. 

Outside of work, Laurence’s passion is working with non-profit groups that promote people-to-people exchanges between the U.S. and Latin America, and volunteers his expertise in grant writing and grassroots membership development and fundraising for those causes. He has spoken before the Los Angeles City Council on this subject.

Lisa Horst
Sales Associate

Lisa joined Avrick Direct in 2006, working with the COO on special projects including the launch of the Avrick Advantage Reactivation Plus TM Program. In her new position as Sales Associate, Lisa will work with our outside management firms, directing and assisting in their marketing and sales of Avrick Direct lists.

Lisa will also work with brokers providing recommendations for their mailers and continue to administer our Reactivation program. Prior to Avrick Direct, Lisa held senior positions in the retail and hospitality industries.

Lisa’s skills in project management and analysis make her a “natural” for direct marketing, and she is looking forward to working closely with industry peers, especially as Avrick Direct continues to expand our products and services.
